CKI Ambassador

Hey everyone! My name is Laura Belmont, and I am so excited to serve as the 2016-2017 CKI-STUFH Ambassador. I am a sophomore at Arizona State University double majoring in genetics and biochemistry. After my undergraduate studies, I plan to attend graduate school to obtain a PhD and pursue a career in research. I am not entirely sure what field, but I intend to study the genetics behind human health conditions and work to find treatment options using that information.

Aside from science, I am incredibly passionate about community service, and this will be my sixth year in the Kiwanis family. One of my favorite service projects to combat hunger is orchard picking! Every year, we would coordinate with the United Food Bank and volunteer to pick fruit from local growers. All of the produce picked, which filled up a very large container, was donated to the food bank. The event quickly became a favorite for many others as well. It gave volunteers a chance to climb trees, be outside, work together, and have fun!

This year, I hope to promote food fight and STUFH the bus events, as well as food drives around end-of-semester move-outs. I also want to promote year-round interest in STUFH and help provide resources to interested groups. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out to me!
