CKI Ambassador

Hello everyone! My name is Skylar Gleason and I am a senior at the University of Michigan with majors in International Studies and Political Science and minors in Spanish and Law, Justice, and Social Change. I am currently serving as the Club President of Circle K at the University of Michigan this year and am also involved in a choral group and public policy club. I am very excited to be your Circle K International STUFH ambassador for the 2018-2019 year!

Throughout my time in Circle K, I have worked on many hunger projects and initiatives put on by my club, including our STUFH the Bus event, working with local food pantries to distribute food, and our Trick-or-Can event where volunteers go into local neighborhoods on Halloween night and trick-or-treat for canned goods. These are experiences that I have always found to be very rewarding. I love the immediate and powerful impact that hunger projects can have and feel inspired by the way that campus and local communities are so willing to join forces to fight hunger! However, my involvement in these projects has also opened my eyes to the prevalence of hunger issues and left me motivated to do more. For that reason, I decided to apply for and take on the role of STUFH ambassador.

Through this role, I plan to strengthen CKI’s involvement with STUFH by encouraging Circle K clubs across the country to run STUFH the Bus events, food drive competitions, and workshops that raise awareness of hunger. I also want to promote the variety of creative, and sustainable ways that CKI members can get involved with fighting hunger in their specific communities, such as creating reoccurring volunteer projects at local food banks or gardens. Overall, I hope to get as many individuals and clubs excited about teaming up to fight hunger as possible!
