The Texas-Oklahoma Circle K International Hill Country division enjoyed its annual Spring Rally in Austin, Texas on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Caritas of Austin. Caritas of Austin provides a service continuum for those experiencing poverty that begins with a safety net and links them to recourses to achieve self-sufficiency. Hill Country Lt. Governor Juan Juarez has always incorporated service projects into his rallies and thought that this was only appropriate for this year’s spring rally. Typically, January is a lean month for Caritas of Austin after the holidays and therefore, the Hill Country division decided to bring in food for the pantry. The Hill Country division of the Texas-Oklahoma District all held individual food drives or brought canned food items to the spring rally on January 23. It was great to see chapters from all over the Hill Country division engage in service, leadership, and fellowship! Texas-Oklahoma District Governor, Monica Caudillo stated, “To see such a large amount of food being donated by college students confirm my reasoning on why the CKI members of the Hill Country division of the Texas-Oklahoma district truly are servant leaders. The excitement and the many selfless acts of kindness being demonstrated in just three hours this day, honestly, made me proud to serve with each and every single member.” Even though it was early on a Saturday morning, CKI members are different from other college students. They have the energy, drive, and passion for service no matter what time, day, or month it is. The Southeast/ Gulf Coast Lt. Governor said, “It was really nice to see everyone working hard, having a good time, and showing what CKI is really about.” The entire Hill Country division Spring Rally had a total of 48 CKI and Kiwanis members show up! That is an amazing turn out for the Hill Country division! The Hill Country Lt. Governor continues to be impressed with the Hill Country division and is extremely proud to call it his division. The Hill Country division will continue to be the prime example of CKI service, leadership, and, fellowship in the Texas-Oklahoma Circle K International District!
